Since autumn 2021, the village has been part of the prestigious “Most Beautiful Villages in Italy” club.
The surrounding area offers numerous opportunities for excursions and walks immersed in unspoiled nature. North of Pieve rises the majestic granite massif of Cima d’Asta (2847 m), a popular destination for climbers and hikers who traverse the fascinating Alta Via del Granito.
For those seeking direct contact with nature, a must-see stop is the Tesino Arboretum: an evocative place that hosts plants from all over the world, forests, meadows, and the symbolic Garden of Europe. The latter, inspired by De Gasperi’s European vision, is designed as a natural Parliament, with a shape reminiscent of a parliamentary chamber.

History and Culture

Pieve Tesino boasts a rich historical tradition. The name “Pieve” derives from the Latin word “plebs,” indicating its ancient function as a parish church in the Tesino valley. The town is known for being the birthplace of Alcide De Gasperi, one of the founding fathers of the European Union, whose birthplace is now a museum dedicated to his life and work . In addition, the “Per Via” Museum celebrates the epic of the print peddlers, telling the story of these enterprising merchants who brought Italian art and culture throughout Europe.
